The School Bully Met His Match

“Boys!” the teacher called.

“Yes, sir!” the class echoed.

“Bullying is not allowed. What did I say?”

“Bullying is not allowed!”

I stifled a yawn.

The same speech.

Every single week.

The teachers talked about bullying as if words could stop it. As if lectures could erase fear.

The desk of the new boy.

Empty.

No biscuits.

No drink.

No money.

Nothing.

My jaw tightened.

“Who does this boy think he is?”

The room fell silent.

Several students lowered their heads.

Others stared nervously at the new student.

He sat calmly, as if none of this concerned him.

That irritated me more than words could describe.

“Did nobody tell this baby frog the rules of this class?” I shouted.

Still no response....
