You know, growing up my mom used to tell me that parents would do anything for their kids to grow up safe and happy, and it’s only now that I am understanding the weight of what she meant.Because believe me, I am ready to move mountains to ensure my baby gets the best of everything.

I don’t care how many blisters my hands are going to develop, but trust me, I’ll do anything for this angel to be happy. And by anything, I mean ANYTHING.Because in them, I learnt to live again.I found a reason to wake up and not be remorseful for waking up.

It’s because of them that I can finally hope again.And honestly, sometimes I sit quietly and wonder how one tiny human who currently weighs approximately the same as a small avocado has managed to completely rearrange my entire life.I haven’t even met this child yet and already they have me making long-term financial plans.

Me.The same person who can look at their bank account, see three digits, and still somehow convince themselves that buying chips is an investment.Suddenly I’m thinking about savings.Education.A decent home.A stable future.A wardrobe.Healthcare.And possibly buying land.

LAND!This baby hasn’t even arrived and I’m already looking at plots like I’m about to become a real estate tycoon.The other day I caught myself thinking, “My child must have a good education.”Meanwhile, I’m sitting there trying to remember where I put my own socks.

Motherhood really humbles you before the baby even comes out.But underneath all the jokes, something inside me has changed.There is this little person I haven’t met yet who has somehow given me a reason to keep going.When life gets heavy, I think about them.

When I feel like giving up, I think about their tiny hands.When I’m scared about the future, I remind myself that the future is exactly what I’m fighting for.And maybe that’s what my mother was trying to teach me all those years ago.You don’t suddenly become fearless when you become a parent.

You simply discover that there is something you love more than your fear.And that changes everything.I used to think strength meant never crying.Never struggling.Never needing help.Never admitting that something hurt.

Now I understand that strength can also look like waking up...
