The Innocent Girl Who Changed My Vacation

So I was in Mombasa, just enjoying a stay at one of those big hotels with a huge swimming pool. The place was full. Families sitting at the restaurant tables, kids running around, swimmers everywhere.

Then I noticed this girl.

She wasn’t swimming. She had access to the pool area but she came alone from where her family was seated at the restaurant side. They were all dressed in religious clothing, very modest.

She came to the poolside, sat close to the water and just dipped her feet in. That was it. No swimming, no changing, nothing.

At first I kept wondering why she even came that close to the pool if she wasn’t going in. But I didn’t think much of it and just continued swimming.

I kept going in and out of the pool a few times to get drinks and relax, and each time I noticed she was still there. Just sitting, watching, calm.
