Stackoverflow 2025 Developer Survey results came out the other day, we need to address the elephant in the room, AI and our Jobs. Before I began the rant, let me just say I was a little shocked to learn that a majority of developers don’t use AI agents, quite contrary to the hype we’ve seen on social media.

There is a sweet spot in using AI in software engineering. Before I explain, let’s get the basics. AI tools, as they are right now, are context based. What this means in simple terms is they have a short attention span (I’m intentionally not using memory span here)and can focus best on one thing at a time. You obviously can’t tell it to scan through your code and find out why the update stock button is not doing anything when clicked; in all fairness, you can, I’ll address my contrary opinion in a sec.
