We grew up believing life follows a timetable.

Graduate at this age. Get a job at this age. Build a house at this age. Marry at this age. Become successful before everyone else posts their achievements online.

And if you fail to match that invisible schedule, society quietly labels you: “late.” “confused.” “wasting potential.”

But the older you grow, the more you realize something terrifying and freeing at the same time:

There is no universal “right time.”

The world only pretends there is.

A 19-year-old becomes a millionaire and suddenly everyone your age feels pressured. A 35-year-old starts over from scratch and people whisper that he failed in life. A woman chooses peace over marriage and society acts like she missed the train. A developer watches teenagers build startups while he is still debugging tutorial projects at 2AM.

Social media makes it worse.

You open your phone for five minutes and suddenly it feels like everyone is ahead: Someone is buying a car. Someone is getting engaged. Someone is flying abroad. Someone is launching a company. Someone is posting screenshots of earnings.

Meanwhile you are sitting there questioning your entire existence because your code won’t compile and your account balance is behaving like a missing person.

Slowly, comparison becomes poison.

You start treating life like a competition instead of a journey. You stop appreciating your own progress because another person reached a different destination faster.

But what most people never understand is this:
