The first time Muthoni saw Brian, she wasn't impressed.

Alikuwa amekaa kwa matatu kutoka Kikuyu kuelekea Nairobi, earphones zimewekwa, akiskiza music while looking outside the window. 🎧🚌 The morning traffic was crazy, but she didn't care. She was late for work.

Brian entered the matatu at the last minute.

“Boss, nishukishe hapo town,” he told the conductor.

Suddenly, the matatu braked hard. Muthoni lost her balance and almost fell.

Brian quickly grabbed her hand.

“Yeah… niko fiti,” she replied shyly.

“Sure?”

“Sure. Usiniangalie hivyo,” she said, laughing. 😂

Brian laughed too.

From that morning, he couldn't stop thinking about her.

The following day, Brian deliberately took the same matatu.

Muthoni noticed him and smiled.

“Follow? Mimi? Wewe ndio uliiba heart yangu jana.”

“Ati heart? 😂 Wewe acha jokes bana.”

But deep inside, Muthoni was happy.

Soon, they exchanged numbers.

Their simple “Hi” messages became long conversations. Before they knew it, they were talking every night.

Brian: “Umeshakula?”

Muthoni: “Bado.”

Brian: “Sasa unangoja nini? 😂”

Muthoni: “Pesa ndio hakuna.”

A few minutes later, her phone beeped.

Brian had sent her some money.

“Brian, si lazima…”

“Usibishane. Nenda ukule.”

One Saturday, they met at a small café in Nairobi. Brian looked nervous.

“Muthoni, kuna kitu nataka kukuambia.”

“Ni nini?”

“I've fallen in love with you.”

Muthoni became silent.

“Brian…”

“Yes?”

“Unajua mimi sipendi mchezo.”

“I know. I'm serious about you.”

She looked into his eyes.

“Then don't promise me heaven. Just promise me honesty.”

Brian held her hand.

“Nakuahidi. Nitakuwa na wewe, hata wakati mambo yatakuwa magumu.”

Muthoni smiled.

“Basi… let's try.” ❤️

For a while, everything was perfect.

Until Brian lost his job. 💔

Bills piled up, and life became difficult.

One evening, Brian told her, “Maybe you should leave me. Sina job, sina pesa, and I don't know when things will get better.”

Muthoni shook her head.

“Ulinipenda ukiwa na job. Sasa umeipoteza ndio nikimbie? Hapana bana.”

Brian stared at her.

“Why do you love me this much?”

Muthoni smiled through her tears.

“Because love si pesa. Ni vile mtu anakushikilia mkono when life gets messy.” ❤️

Brian pulled her into a warm hug.

Outside, Nairobi was alive—matatus hooting, people rushing home, and music playing from small shops. 🌃🇰🇪

They didn't have expensive cars or millions in the bank.

They only had each other.
