LIFE AS A TODDLER’S MUM 😂❤️

Nobody ever tells you what it truly means to be a toddler’s mum.

Before motherhood, I thought I understood what tiredness meant. I thought sleeping for five hours was little. 😂 Now, as a toddler’s mum, I can sleep for three hours and wake up saying, “At least nimepata usingizi kidogo.”

My day starts before I am ready.

“Mummy! Mummy! Mummy!”

I open one eye.

“Baby, what is it?”

“Water.”

I give him water and close my eyes.

Two minutes later…

“Mummy!”

I sit up again.

“What now?”

“Food.”

“Lakini tulikula jana usiku!”

He looks at me as if I have said the most ridiculous thing in the world.

“Food, Mummy.”

I laugh.

“Okay, boss.”

Being a toddler’s mum is basically working a full-time job without weekends, holidays or salary. 😂

You cook food, and your toddler says, “I don't want.”

You make something else.

“I want the first one.”

“Wueh! Kumbe wewe ni customer wa hotel?”

Then you finally sit down to eat your own food.

Suddenly, you hear:

“Mummy, I want!”

Of course! 😂

You give him some of your food.

Then he looks at it and says,

“No.”

I just stare at him.

“Seriously?”

He walks away like nothing happened.

Bathing time is another story.

“Come, let's take a bath.”

“No!”

“Please?”

“No!”

“There's water.”

“No!”

Then somehow he ends up in the bathroom, splashing water everywhere.

“Mummy!”

“Yes?”

“Look!”

He jumps into the water.

SPLASH! 💦

My clothes are now wet.

“Jameni! What are you doing?”

He laughs until he almost falls.

At that moment, I want to be angry, but his laughter melts my heart.

Later, I try dressing him.

“Put on this shirt.”

“No.”

“This one?”

“No.”

“What do you want?”

He points to a completely different outfit.

“Hii!”

“Okay, wear it.”

“No!”

I take a deep breath.

Motherhood, please give me strength. 😂

But underneath all the madness are moments I treasure.

Sometimes, when the house is finally quiet, my toddler comes and climbs onto my lap.

He puts his tiny arms around my neck and whispers,

“Mummy, I love you.”

And honestly, that's when everything becomes worth it. ❤️🥹

I look at him and remember how tiny he once was.

Now he is running around the house, making noise, asking endless questions, touching everything and calling my name every two minutes.

There are days I feel exhausted.

There are days I lock myself in the bathroom for five minutes just to breathe.

Sometimes I whisper, “Aki leo nimechoka.” 😭

But then I hear little footsteps outside.

“Mummy, where are you?”

And I smile.

Because that's my baby.

My little troublemaker.

My happiness.

My reason to keep going.

Being a toddler’s mum isn't perfect.

It's messy.

It's noisy.

It's tiring.

It's sometimes overwhelming.

But it's also the most beautiful kind of love.

Kuwa mama wa toddler ni kujua uchovu wa kweli, lakini pia kujua love ambayo haiwezi kupimwa. ❤️

One day, this little child will grow up.

The house will become quiet.

There won't be toys everywhere.

No more tiny footsteps running toward me.

And maybe I'll miss these crazy days.

So for now, I'll embrace the mess.

I'll laugh at the madness.

I'll wipe the tears.

I'll survive the tantrums.

I'll answer “Mummy!” for the hundredth time.

Because one day, I'll realize that these were not just chaotic days.

They were the days I was making my sweetest memories. ❤️🥹🌸
