Learning to Trust Myself Again (Rebuilding in Silence - Part 6)
For a long time, I didn’t trust myself.
Not because I was reckless, but because I had ignored my own instincts too many times. I stayed when I should have left. I explained when I should have walked away. I doubted the quiet voice inside me and listened to everyone else instead.
Eventually, that voice went quiet.
Rebuilding meant starting there, at the place where I no longer believed my own judgment. It wasn’t dramatic. It didn’t feel empowering. It felt awkward and uncertain, like learning how to walk again after standing still for too long.
I started small.
I made simple decisions and followed through. I paid attention to how my body reacted when something felt wrong. I allowed myself to change my mind without calling it failure.
Trust didn’t return all at once.
It came back slowly, through consistency. Through noticing that I could choose differently now. Through realizing that the person I am becoming deserves to be listened to.
I’m still learning.
I still hesitate sometimes.
But each time I honor what I feel instead of dismissing it, something inside me strengthens.
Trusting myself again isn’t about being perfect.
It’s about believing that even if I make mistakes, I will know how to recover.
And that has changed everything.
