For a long time, avoiding people felt like self-care. I told myself I liked my space, my peace, my quiet. I chose corners over crowds, silence over small talk, distance over connection. It wasn’t that I disliked people I just felt safer away from them.

I didn’t notice how much I was shrinking until life started feeling smaller. Opportunities passed without my involvement.
Relationships stayed surface-level. Important conversations never happened because I wasn’t there to have them. I watched from the sidelines and convinced myself I preferred it that way.
