There are women you meet, women you date, and women you eventually forget. Then there are women who leave you questioning whether you will ever experience that particular kind of chemistry again.
For me, that woman was Felisha.
Five years+ have passed since we broke up, but sometimes I still find myself travelling backwards in my mind, remembering a relationship that was equal parts romance, adventure, laughter, stubbornness and intimacy.
I don't know whether Felisha remembers everything the way I do. Perhaps she has moved on completely. Perhaps she occasionally remembers those days too. But there are memories that deserve to be written down, especially when the people involved are no longer part of each other's everyday lives.
When I met Felisha, I was a man who believed he understood relationships. I was heavily influenced by red-pill conversations, masculinity debates and the idea that a man should be confident, decisive and comfortable taking the lead.
I had opinions about everything.
Felisha found that amusing.
"Do you ever get tired of yourself?" she once asked.
I looked at her.
"What do you mean?"
"You're always explaining something. Sometimes I just want you to listen."
I laughed.
"You're saying I'm difficult?"
"I'm saying you're exhausting."
"And yet you're still here."
She smiled.
"Unfortunately."
That smile became one of my favourite things.
There was something about the way she could challenge me without destroying the chemistry between us. She liked my confidence and dominant personality, but she also had a personality of her own. She wasn't afraid to disagree, tease me or tell me when my ego was getting out of control.
Our relationship had an unusual level of playfulness.
Felisha loved role-playing. The nurse was one of her favourite characters, and the police officer was another. She enjoyed inventing scenarios, changing her attitude and making ordinary private moments feel like scenes from porn hub.
"Tonight, I'm the nurse," she would announce.
I would look at her suspiciously.
"Should I be worried about my health?"
"Very worried."
"Then I need a second opinion."
She would then take charge and make love to me like we weren't going to breathe again the next minute. The slow kissing, chocking, backshots name it,all this while as she dressed in that short nurse dress gosh! Definitely what every man would wish for!
Those little performances became part of our intimate relationship. We enjoyed the imagination, the teasing, the trust and the sex that accompanied our private moments.
The police officer character was equally memorable.
"Sir, you're under investigation."
"For what?"
"Being stubborn."
I would laugh.
"Can I have my lawyer?"
"No. You're coming with me."The coming with me would be accompanied with lots of cumming ,wet sheets and sweaty bodies .
But perhaps that was the beauty of it. We were comfortable enough to be playful without worrying about looking ridiculous.
And then there were the kisses.
I remember how different a kiss could feel when you genuinely wanted the person standing in front of you.
Sometimes Felisha would be talking, and I would find myself distracted by her expressions. She would notice.
"What?"
"Nothing."
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
"Can't I admire my woman?"
She would roll her eyes, but the smile would give her away.
I would move closer, gently touch her face and kiss her forehead before leaning in for a slow kiss.
There was never a need to rush every romantic moment.
Sometimes we would simply remain close, exchanging quiet kisses and enjoying the silence between conversations.
