Facing Fear Without Running (Rebuilding in Silence - Part 10)
Fear didn’t disappear when I started rebuilding.
If anything, it became clearer.
Before, I avoided it by staying busy, staying quiet, staying small. I mistook avoidance for peace and silence for strength. Running felt easier than staying present with discomfort.
But rebuilding required me to slow down.
And when I slowed down, fear had nowhere to hide.
I felt it in hesitation. In doubt. In the constant question of whether I was making the right choices. There were moments I wanted to go back to what was familiar, even if it hurt less because it was known.
This time, I stayed.
I learned that fear isn’t always a warning, sometimes it’s a response to change. Sometimes it appears when you’re doing something unfamiliar but necessary. Facing it didn’t mean forcing bravery. It meant breathing through uncertainty without escaping it.
Each time I stayed instead of running, fear lost a little power.
I’m still afraid sometimes.
But now, fear doesn’t decide for me.
And that has made all the difference.
