ENCOUNTER:CITY LIFE

BASED ON REAL LIFE STORIES :Part One

Life is always unpredictable they say,the 18 year old Maggy has just graduated from high school and is looking forward to join college,even though her mother was self- employed,she wasn't making enough money that would be able to send her daughter to college.

Mama Maggy:Hey,so I know you've tried your best,and have performed well and I am proud of you,as of now I am not stable enough to pay for your college fee and getting scholarship with your grade will be hard.

Maggy:Yes Mama,I am aware of that, I'll figure out something so don't worry.

Mama Maggy:Tell me your plans.

Maggy :I will find a job in the meantime and when I have saved enough I can be able to pay for my fees.

Mama Maggy: That's soo thoughtful of you.

Maggy:Thank you mama,I know things aren't going well but I know someday it's all going to be over.

Maggy started looking for jobs and luckily she found one at a fast food restaurant.Days went by ,she continued to work hard, clients loved for her for she was always smiling and they would sometimes tip her.The manager of the restaurant loved how energetic she was ,so he gave her a chance to be working overtime since she proved that she can be trusted.At her place of work she seemed vibrant, loving and caring but at home she's always a loner,not because she doesn't like association but she was born that way.Everytime friends would ask her out,she always came up with an excuse because of how unsocial she was.One fine evening,she came back home from work,her mother and brother are happy to see her back ,well it was that time of the month so they knew her pocket was full.

Nathan:(Maggy's brother)Hey sissy,glad to see you back,been expecting goodies but I can't see you carrying anything apart from your handbag.Everything okay?

Maggy:Good evening mom,how was your day?

Mama Maggy:It was cool,I did not work today,I had no clients .

Maggy:Oooh, it's okay mama,I was hoping to be paid today but i haven't received a bank alert,so till tomorrow I guess.

Mama Maggy:We don't have food today in this house my daughter,how .......

Maggy:Relax mam,I have some cash I received as tips from customers so we can use this to buy something.

Mama Maggy:Ooooh, that's fine.I am tired of living this city life I need to go to the village and become a farmer.

Maggy:Not a bad idea,but are sure you'll manage.

Mama Maggy:Yeah ,why not?

Maggy:Well,I believe you can do it,so what are your plans?

Mama Maggy:I only need the bus fare to get me there .I already packed,the moment you are paid, that's all I ask for.

Maggy:Okay mom.You going with Nathan?

Mama Maggy:Yeah,I cannot leave my baby boy behind.

Maggy:Okaaay, well I go buy the veges.

Nathan:Get me a candy please

Maggy:Okay lil man,I got you.

After having their dinner while preparing to go to bed,Maggy receives an alert ,she's been paid.

Maggy:Mom,which bus should I book you?

Mama Maggy:Usual.

Maggy:So you are leaving tomorrow morning?

Mama Maggy:Yes, aren't you happy you'll have the house to yourself?

Maggy:I am but adjusting will be a little hard for me.

Mama Maggy: It's okay my daughter you got this.
