To whom much is given, much is expected.

A tale is told by St Luke on his 12th chapter of how people handle responsibilities differently. Some go out and about and flourish, while some sit on their potential. Luke was not solely talking about the biblical guys in the Jesus era. No. From the old fishing boats of the lake of Galilee, St Luke must have foreseen the tragedy of power being given to unworthy fellows. People of questionable moral values. People of hyenaic conduct, or is it misconduct? With an insatiable thirst for wealth. Those people who forget they are supposed to serve the interests of the public, and not their own. They are certified dealers, not leaders, a legislature that sings hallelujah to the Executive and a Judiciary which oozes endless blood of corruption.

If St Luke lived in modern days, he would have been heartbroken seeing the sad state of affairs. He would have wept at the runaway corruption, degrading economic situation and defiled moral compass. He would request to be flown sailed back to Galilee as the sight of shameless hypocrisy and broad day deception by politicians in Kenya is of unrivalled magnitudes, and would sicken him.

Most Kenyan politicians are obsessed with publicity and will go unthinkable miles, including crying in public just to win empathy and spread the insufferable virus of deception to their gullible supporters. They are shameless liars, career hypocrites and rogue dealers who prey on emotional vulnerability and low emotional intelligence of the electorate to rise and maintain their power, impoverishing the electorate by denying them basic needs like information, giving them poor education and by doing so, making them their slaves. Capitalizing on their poverty, they will give them handouts occasionally, hooking the naïve citizens to their drug of over dependance. It is a vicious circle of deception and treachery that knows no bounds. The catastrophic repercussions? Citizens remain in the depressing island of abject poverty while their leaders swim in the vast oceans of material and wealth prosperity.
