Synopsis
Every journey begins with an expectation.
When I first left the village for college, I carried more than a bag and a few belongings. I carried dreams, ambitions, curiosity, and a strong belief that something good was about to happen.
I imagined meeting new people, discovering a different world, building my future, and experiencing the freedom that came with being on campus. I did not know that the year ahead would also introduce me to love, heartbreak, confusion, failure, friendship, and—most importantly—a different version of myself.
This is not a story about having everything figured out.
It is a story about learning.
Some of the moments in these pages made me laugh. Others hurt. Some taught me lessons I understood immediately, while others only made sense much later. There were moments when I thought I was losing something, only to realize that I was slowly finding myself.
I have chosen to tell this story honestly, while respecting the privacy of the people who were part of it. Some details may be simplified or presented through the lens of memory, but the emotions, lessons, and experiences behind them are deeply personal.
My first year of college did not turn out exactly the way I expected.
In some ways, it was better.
In others, it was harder.
But looking back now, I understand something I could not have understood on that first day:
Sometimes the thing you think you are going to find is not the thing you were meant to find.
Sometimes, you have to lose a little of yourself before you discover who you are becoming.
This is the story of my first year.
From the village to campus.
From expectations to reality.
From love to heartbreak.
And, eventually, from losing myself to finding myself again.
