I started posting again.
But this time, I was more motivated than before.
I told myself, “I have to keep going.”
Week one passed.
Then week two.
And slowly, I started seeing something that made me very happy.
My earnings rates were increasing.
For the first time, I started feeling like maybe… just maybe, my life was finally going to change.
I was so happy.
I knew I still had a long way to go, but at least I could see something happening.
My hope was coming back.
One day, my phone went off.
Honestly, content creation can be overwhelming.
So I decided to charge my phone and relax my mind a little.
I took a nap.
Later, I woke up and went to get my phone.
It was fully charged.
I picked it up and tried to switch it on.
Nothing.
I tried again.
Still nothing.
My phone had completely died.
I was now officially offline.I knew something serious was wrong.
The phone had been at 100% when I took it to charge.
So I didn't just assume it was a small problem.
I carried my babies and went to a mobile phone repair shop.
The technician opened the phone and checked it.
Then he told me,
“You need to replace the battery.”
I was shocked.
A new battery.
At that moment, I had no savings.
And the person I would normally run to for help was my husband.
But he was also struggling.
He was trying to find money so we could vacate the house.
We had already been given notice because of rent arrears.
So he was dealing with his own pressure.
And I stood there with my dead phone, thinking…
“Now what?”
Just when I had started seeing my earnings improve.
Just when I had started believing that maybe my life was finally going to change.
My phone died.I was offline for one whole month.
I didn't have the money to replace the battery.
And I couldn't call anyone for help.
Not even my mother.
So I decided to stay indoors with my babies.
Honestly, I had nowhere else to go.
I had no phone.
I had no money to fix it.
And I was completely offline.
For one whole month, it was just me and my babies.
I couldn't post.
I couldn't check my earnings.
I couldn't talk to anyone online.
The same phone I believed was going to help me change my life was now completely dead.
And I could do nothing about it.During that time, we lost our grandfather,my mother-in-law's father.
So we travelled for the burial.
After everything was done, it was time to come back to Nairobi.
There was a little money that had been raised for the burial, and some of it remained.
It was divided among the grandchildren.
Each grandchild was supposed to receive KSh 1,000.
I received mine.
My husband also received his.
But he took his money and gave it to me.
So I had KSh 2,000.
When I came back to Nairobi, I decided to take a Lipa Mdogo Mdogo phone.
At first, I thought of replacing the battery on my old phone.
But honestly, I wasn't ready to keep dealing with a phone that could suddenly start giving me problems again.
I needed to get back to Facebook.
I needed to continue with my monetization journey.
So I chose to take a new phone.
It wasn't just a phone to me.
It was my way of trying again.immediately started posting again.
The bottom line was simple.
I needed to become stable for my people.
My children.
My husband.
I had already lost one month.
I didn't want to lose another day.
So I went back to creating content.
I went back to Facebook.
And this time, I wasn't just posting for the earnings.
I was posting because my family needed me to keep going.
That was my reality.
