You have a garden, so you build a fence to keep people out. The fence is made of wood and each piece of wood in it reaches precisely 183 cm above the ground where it is placed. However, you neglected to notice that in one small corner of your yard, there's a deep pit on your property line that's 152 cm deep but only about 30 cm wide. The person who installed your fence only had instructions that it was to be 183 cm off the ground at that point, but for a 30 cm wide area the ground is significantly lower than you realized. You probably should have said that the average height of the fence should be 183 cm, however you didn't, so now you have one small area that's only 30 cm high but it's surrounded on either side by a 15 cm gap. It would suck if you fell into that gap, so most people don't go near there.
A hacker notices this and realizes that if he were to get a running start, he could jump into your yard. He tries it, it works, and now he's found an exploit by thinking of a way to take advantage of the fact that your instructions for a 183 cm fence were taken literally instead of with the intent of keeping people out.
Ok, so now you notice the hacker's footprints in your yard a day later. You're not sure how they got there exactly, when they got there, or where they went after, but you're pretty damn sure they were in your yard and could have done anything they wanted while they were there, so now you have to tell your neighbors that someone was in your yard.
