I went to the hospital later in the day to check up on Penny and thank God, she was awake but weak. I sat beside her as I held Mel closer to her. She asked me to protect her daughter with all I had and never let Jim near her. I promised with my life to take care of her and always be there.
"Don't overreact please," she said with a frail voice. I could feel a lump stuck in my throat from the words that I wanted to tell my sister but couldn't. I couldn't imagine even in her state she was still feeling pity for someone who never for once showed any remorse for his actions. This man hadn't even introduced her to his people.
