The following morning, Lynn woke up before the sun had fully risen.
For a few seconds, she remained still, staring at the ceiling.
Then the dream came back to her.
She remembered Titus's voice. She remembered the words he had said. Most of all, she remembered the words she had spoken in return.
She quickly sat up.
“No,” she whispered.
She shook her head as though she could physically throw the memory out of her mind.
“It was only a dream.”
Her mother called from outside the room.
“Lynn! Wake up. You'll be late for school.”
“I'm awake, Mum!”
She jumped out of bed, dressed quickly and grabbed her schoolbag.
At breakfast, her mother noticed that she was unusually quiet.
“What's wrong with you today?”
“Nothing.”
“You don't look like nothing.”
Lynn forced a smile.
“I'm just tired.”
Her mother studied her for a moment before returning to her breakfast.
“Make sure you eat. You have a long day ahead.”
Lynn nodded.
But her mind was somewhere else.
At school, the situation was no different.
The moment she stepped through the gate, she saw Titus standing near the classroom block.
He was talking to Tiger.
The moment their eyes met, Lynn looked away.
Titus noticed.
A smile slowly appeared on his face.
Tiger followed his gaze.
“Don't even think about it,” he warned.
“Think about what?”
“You know exactly what I'm talking about.”
Titus laughed.
“I haven't said anything.”
“You don't have to. Your eyes have already written the whole story.”
Titus ignored him.
He watched Lynn walk into the classroom.
For him, seeing her was enough to make the entire morning brighter.
For Lynn, however, it was becoming a problem.
She took her seat and immediately opened her books.
She wanted to concentrate.
Mathematics.
That was what she needed to think about.
Not Titus. Not yesterday. Not the dream.
Definitely not love.
“Titus!”
Tiger's voice brought him back to reality.
“What?”
“Sir is asking you a question.”
Titus looked toward the front.
Mr. Bii was standing beside the blackboard.
“Titus,” he repeated. “Since you seem to be somewhere else, perhaps you can tell us the answer.”
The class became quiet.
Titus looked at the question.
Normally, he would have answered immediately.
He was the boy everyone depended on whenever a difficult question appeared on the board.
But this time, his mind was blank.
“I... I don't know, sir.”
A few students exchanged surprised looks.
Tiger raised his eyebrows.
Even Mr. Bii looked disappointed.
“You don't know?”...
