A Note on Language:
The term kibarua (pl. vibarua) is a Swahili word denoting, as a noun, a casual or day labourer, or, as a verb, the work that such a labourer does. In its everyday sense, one can be in search of a kibarua, to mean that they are job-hunting. In its derogatory sense, a kibarua is a poor, illiterate person that can barely make ends meet. In this story, the term is used in the latter sense.
